- After LSU's Texas A&M game, Lane Kiffin said quarterback Sam played through a hamstring injury that worsened during the game. LSU limited his movement and used Landon for some calls; Kiffin said Sam could have finished. He gave no injury grade, medical clearance or return timetable.
- With Trey Dez unavailable against Texas A&M, Kiffin said Jackson Harris received similar play-action opportunities and LSU used four-receiver sets. He praised Harris' work in limited earlier chances but did not name a permanent new target hierarchy.
- Kiffin said LSU moved Tai into Deshawn's spot for the Texas A&M game and played two freshman safeties behind him to contain Marcel's perimeter runs. He credited an offseason-specific plan against the running quarterback, not a newly declared base defense.
- Kiffin said LSU gave Harlem a chance as its number-two running back in the Texas A&M game and liked how he ran. He did not announce a permanent depth-chart promotion or fixed workload.
