How did BYU perform in our key performance metrics against Colorado State?
- BYU's Colorado State review records 4-of-9 conversion downs overall, but only five conversion situations before the writer's garbage-time cutoff. BYU converted one of four medium-to-long third downs and its only short-yardage opportunity in that early sample. The split identifies a situational execution concern, not a change to the offensive system.
- Excluding garbage time, BYU gained 343 of 577 available yards against Colorado State, or 59.4%, in the article's drive-based metric. The separate full-game offensive total was 559 yards and includes later play. The available-yards figure describes this game's early offensive efficiency, not a forecast for conference opponents.
- With garbage time excluded, the BYU review counts three explosive plays allowed against Colorado State, or 7.5% of the opponent's plays in that sample: two in the first quarter and one just before halftime. This describes the defense's explosive-play containment within the author's cutoff, not a new coverage assignment.
- Including garbage time, BYU allowed 23 points on four Colorado State scoring opportunities, or 5.75 points per opportunity. The article attributes 16 of those points to the reserve defense and seven to the starters. This is a game-specific depth and scoring-prevention concern; it does not announce demotions or a revised rotation.
