So far Arthur Smith is failing at the college level
Summary
OL/TE: Or maybe the problem is Ryan Day is too involved in play calling.
Or maybe the problem is Ryan Day is too involved in play calling. Against Texas, we should have run the ball more in the second half. We had more pass plays than run plays. And Day is king of playing with no tempo. I suspect part of the problem against Texas was Day instituting a pro-style game plan whether he called any plays or not. As far as the lack of success running the ball against Kent State, I put a lot of that on the OL, not the specific play calls. Our OL should have manhandled KSU's DL. I do agree to stop with the 3 TE sets. Our TEs are not blocking well enough. We did better when we brought in a 6th OL. Maybe we should do more of that and have less heavy TE sets.
