His successes so far are not just relative to VT standards. We’re through only three games, but in both conventional stats and advanced metrics he’s been a top ~15 QB so far, if not a little higher. Conclusions won’t come from three games, there will inevitably be games where he comes back down to earth. So far I’d describe his performance as only “flashing” since the sample is still so small. IMO he’s not going to be ready for the league this year but I do think he comes into next year as one of the top returning QBs in the nation.
