What I'm hearing this morning
Summary
LB: In a way I feel bad for Yurachek in the same way that I feel bad for Sam Pittman.
In a way I feel bad for Yurachek in the same way that I feel bad for Sam Pittman. These guys spent years learning a process to achieve a result. Both of them, I would argue, got to a point where their success rate using the process they learned would indicate they could be successfull here. Then the game changed. (Read died). They found themselves trying to achieve a result using processes that no longer worked and were unable to create one themselves. Which is not a dig at them. Being able to execute or adapt a process that someone else created is as much an achievement as creating one imo. That's why coaching tree videos on youtube are so popular. It will always be fascinating to learn who the best mentors are and who were the best at being mentored. The desire to try to come up with a process to work in what we call college football now a days is probably the most important aspect of looking for leadership. Obviously Hunter would have rather kept college football from changing (read dying) than adapt. I most likely would have felt the same way were I in his position. The university, the players, the game itself would have been better off if NIL would have instantly been walked back or atleast had some very intense controls installed. Nick Saban is the greatest coach of all time, and probably the smartest decision he ever made was to leave coaching behind. Imagine what a large part of his life the game has been. It must have felt like amputating both of his legs. I hope they dont screw this up. I cant help but love the University that carries the name of my state. It is my state. I can say our state haha, because obviously by your being here you feel the same way. These (you) are my people and I will always have a connection that is sort of unexplainable. Even as the players themselves become increasingly estranged from the very thing that seemingly dictates fanhood. Relateability. Thanks for the news Trey. It strikes me as bittersweet. Something that ought not needed to have happened but nevertheless has become inevitable.
