To be completely honest, in that one singular and particilar game vs USC we looked awful. It was just horrible confluence of events: USC 2nd game and our first; a brand new (minus one short start in a bowl game in 2024) QB in his first “real” start as QB1; a brand new interior OL getting their first (I believe) FBS starts; a USC team that was somewhat embarrassed by their 4th qtr letdown vs SJSU and had their HC on their a** all week about it; and then crucial injuries during the game. As Entz said it was a snowball effect and we’re a much better team than what we showed. And I think we will continue to prove that as season goes on. However, all much of the national press will know of us until we show consistent excellence into late in the season will be that USC debacle. It’s not right, but it is what it is. As an aside, I’m ok with it. Fresno never does well as a front runner and excels when nobody is looking.
