Analytically I see the case for it, it after all makes a tie up possible with a TD and two FG, but that's contingent on a few things: 1) time remaining in the game - in the 2nd or 3rd quarter, by all means consider it. If you're in the 4th quarter, the game possession math makes a miss devastating because the clock is a factor and you need to guarantee a shot to be in the game at the end. We only got one more possession, I believe, which was also a TD. 2) are you certain your 3 yard conversion play is a good one? Both of ours looked like single read plays that weren't there and then it failed. Would much rather see some kind of option play or QB run related thing. Personally I think they should have gone for an onside kick after the Durr TD and missed 2pt conversion. As for going for 2 and the win, that should be a conversation for if you have scored a TD and can tie it with a PAT, not something for being down 2 scores. I know it worked vs USC 2 years ago. It usually doesn't.
