Nothing about the ACC media rights sharing formula requires anyone interested in facts to be smart or would make someone who desires factual information to see themselves as smart and/or desire to try and make others believe they are smart. All that is required is a desire for factual info coupled with a very small amount of effort to get factual info.
The ACC has a newly formulated conference sharing formula which was implemented to appease the schools in the conference that have the strongest brands. The formula changes away from evenly divided to a split by on-field success and television ratings. The formula was used for the 2024-25 cycle. And therefore the shares each school received are easily known by anyone who desires to know. The ACC has average per school distributions that ranks third among all leagues, behind the Big Ten and SEC. The ACC continues to set new records for revenue, thanks to increased payouts(which are higher than the Big 12) from the new CFP system AND the additions of Cal, Stanford, SMU. ACC’s tv partner(ESPN) pays the league the same per-school rate for those three schools and those schools drove growth in the ACC Network by converting the channel’s subscribers in the populous Northern California and Dallas markets to a higher in-market fee.
With the new per school distributions projections are that some schools could receive $65 million, while others receive as little as $35 million. The 2024-25 cycle was the first for the new initiative. And since the amounts paid to each school in that cycle are publicly known it is possible to project what would happen to conference sharing should, for instance, happen if FSU, Miami, Clemson moved to the SEC and if the Big 12 could convince, for instance, North Carolina and Virginia, move to the Big 12.
Since there are so many posters who won’t take the time to research what is available to them and continually complain about any posts that attempt to do so and/or the length of posts that include factual info, this is the end of part 1. The above was sourced from several sources which used official press releases from the ACC. More will follow that is related to the above and the comparisons between revenues in the ACC and the Big 12.
The Big 12 is not doomed and neither is the ACC. If this was posted as the beginning of a new thread this would have been the title.
