Marc Daniels on GSU and Keyone, etc.
Summary
Coaching: Just got a chance to listen to Marc's review of the UCF game.
Just got a chance to listen to Marc's review of the UCF game. To lead off, I think he poured water on the Matt Zenitz report about Alonza potentially being back soon? Not sure who else had a report about a return time. "There's some stuff people are posting on Twitter about expected return time, something about back in a week or two. That ain't happening. Scott Frost told you after the game they don't expect him back any time soon." Described Keyone's performance as "choppy." Thinks there are "things going on" offensively. Says UCF fans would rather win a game 52-30 than 20-6. UCF offense is "not must watch TV." No "pop or sizzle, doesn't resemble the 2017-20 offense." Says the OL has to be better. UCF doesn't have a deep passing game. It's OL, QB and WR play. 3 games into a season and they don't have a big-play WR. Thinks TE should be a good position, but mentions Wade's slow start and dropping passes. On the Keyone interception, Marc said it wasn't on him. Frost told us today DayDay ran the wrong route. He mentioned there was another time when someone else ran the wrong route. Says the offense now is "hard" because QB1 is out, and there's no pop or beat, or flow. The OL deserves credit for the running game, but cautioned TCU will be much more competitive up front than GSU. They will try to stop the run. UCF won and "it's better to win than lose." The QB play has to get better though. Referenced fans booing when Frost kicked the FG instead of going on 4th and 1, but the objective was making it a two-score game. Says the OL has struggled so "you have to make a different decision there." Said he's not speaking for Scott Frost, but then says this: "This isn't the offense that he wants to run. Sometimes you're running the offense you need to run because of the personnel you've got." Did say this is the roster he assembled though. Said again this "not the offense people want to see." No deep balls in 3 games. Got to be able to throw the ball vs. TCU. Said "we need to see who is healthy" because there were guys banged up after GSU.
