We lost a DGD Sunday morning
Summary
LB: My Dad, Steve, passed away from Parkinsons early Sunday morning just after midnight.
My Dad, Steve, passed away from Parkinsons early Sunday morning just after midnight. He was 83 years old. Graduated from UGA in 66. He was a Vince Dooley man all the way. He talked often about how Vince turned UGA football around and it all happened while he was in school. One of his favorite stories was going up to Knoxville for the season opener in 1980. Him and his buddy didn't have tickets and were standing outside the stadium in a sea of orange looking for tickets and a Dawg fan came up to them and gave them two tickets. He got to see Herschel run over Bates in person. He went to the Sugar Bowls in 1981, 1982 and 1983. The picture below is the morning after the Dawgs won it all in 1981. Dad was walking around in the French Quarter when everyone said UGA III was upstairs in this hotel/condo downtown and he went up there and got his photo made with UGA III. He also got to meet Vince Dooley that same day. Enjoy your time with your people. Life goes by fast. Dad lived a great life. He raised me and my sister to be die hard Bulldogs and both of us graduated from UGA. My son is a Freshman there now and hopefully my daughter will be there in three years. He was a DGD and the best Dad there ever was.
