Big Fred was a stud on both O & D & played ST for coach Dooley in Dooley’s 1st yr as Dawgs head coach. I lived by Mr Fred and we went snow skiing wity Barbers 45+ years ago. Dooley & Erk (DC) and OC setup a meeting with Barber to make a choice on which side of ball he wanted to play & FB told CVD I will play both sides if you let me. The OC( not sure of coach) met with FB prior to the meeting with CVD & Erk and said Barber you know the girls like guys who scores TDs so Barber told CVD he was choosing O over D & Erk stormed out of meeting. A few minutes later Erk stuck his head in door of meeting and said Barber I always knew you were chicken ****. Obviously Erk wanted FB on D! its a true story because Big Fred told me the story in between our houses several years ago. He could have played in pros but Fred chose to get a pharmaceutical degree from Uga. He was a very successful pharmacist his whole life after college in Blackshear but an even better husband , father & friend to all! We will miss you Mr. Fred - A DGD Always! We will see you in heaven Sir!
