UteZone Hot Takes: Three Utah Football Players Who Could Be Heisman Contenders
Summary
John Henry Daley suffered Achilles injury vs KSU; Utah lost him to Michigan transfer, not injury recovery timeline.
I loved what John Henry Daley did for Utah last year, and how can you not admire a player that seems like he was so "self-built?"
His Achilles injury was heartbreaking for him as an individual and to the team as a whole. I hope he is one of the few that has a "miraculous" quick recovery and gets to show his talents at Michigan next year. As I hear 6 months is the minimum, but for high level sports 9-12 months is more normal. Jayson Tatum was out 10 months, Kevin Durant was out 18 months, but part of that was how the offseason hit.
All that said I can't help feeling that as far as 2026 is concerned Utah lost him that Saturday vs. KSU and not really when he announced that he was following Kyle and Lewis Powell to Michigan...
Reporter after reporter (Not UteZone staff) keeps listing him as a big loss for Utah, but it is not that I don't feel he is a loss, I just don't see him as an injury loss rather than a "raid" by Michigan.
That shouldn't make a difference, but it does to me...
