J. Maiava USC stats.
Summary
Pick/market: Since I’m “Fun-Employed,” I recently decided to do some stat analysis on J.
Since I’m “Fun-Employed,” I recently decided to do some stat analysis on J. Maiava. He’s been the starter for 21 games at USC, going 16–5 overall. Not great, but not terrible. 😂 But against Big Ten teams, he’s 10–2!!! At home, he’s 11–1, and he’s 6–0 at home against Big Ten teams!!!!!! Maiava is important—if not the most important—player to USC’s offensive production. In wins, Maiava averages less than 300 yards passing, but in losses, his average passing yards is over 320. To me, that says the running game is just as important. Don’t have Maiava do all the heavy lifting. And we definitely can’t have him throwing too many picks! Just based on the numbers, I think USC wins against Oregon if Maiava throws for around 270 yards, 2 TDs (maybe runs for another TD), and 1 or fewer INTs. In addition, Miller, Waymo, and Wormley need to rush for over 150 yards total, average more than 5.3 yards per carry, and have 2+ TDs. I know it’s a bit of a “no *****, Sherlock” take when it comes to the running game , but USC has only won 2 of the 6 games in which Maiava has thrown for over 300 yards. The numbers tell me USC doesn’t need Maiava to be Superman. They need him to be efficient, protect the ball, and let the running game do its part. Beat the Ducks and FTFO!
