Patrick Murphy's Article on Ohio State Stats - 1 Stat Sums It Up
Summary
Pick/market: We were expected to have our veteran o-line dominate.
cotorob said... (original post) You mean we still have something to work on? 3 games in….new OL blocking scheme (zone vs duo/etc). New OC who has 0 college experience. We are not ... show more Indeed. We were expected to have our veteran o-line dominate. It hasn't and the run game reflects that. Our pass game is utterly dominated by one receiver. Granted, he is generational, but we are in trouble when we get to the meat of our season if we can't get Sayin comfortable passing to WR2 through WR5. These are supposed to be guys who are all WR1/WR2 level on most other teams in the nation. If we have "an embarrassment of riches" at WR, we sure as schiznit are not showing it. Not sure how to feel about the defense. The one realistic reference point is Texas. So was the quarters 1-3 defense real (stout)? Or quarter 4 (wet noodle disaster)? Was the defense suddenly gassed (as I have heard several times), or did we just get too conservative, or maybe did Texas' real offense emerge? Thankfully we have three weeks/games to try to figure all this out before hitting Indiana, USC and Oregon in a row. I think this team has the talent to compete for the natty, but they are far from ready for prime time right now. .
