Attended a meeting this summer where Weiberg introduced Morris but in his opening remarks, Chad said that as much as he hates to admit it, college football has become a miniature version of the NFL. If that's accurate, then we will have to accept a completely different business model, and actually pay players, like QBs, WRs, DTs, and CBs more money than HCs. We're probably already paying a few players more than some of the assistants, but OSU can't depend on wealthy donors to hand over money in perpetuity. I know some ut-n fans who are furious with how much Mateer is making and weren't happy with some RB they had last year who didn't perform up to his pay. Even a big, rabid fanbase like theirs is going to have had enough with busts at qb, the way it may be with Mateer that they don't want to pay NIL anymore. Massive HC buyouts are going to have to go away for schools that don't have a lot of deep pockets, imho.
