Ahead of Iowa State's 2026 Utah game, Jimmy Rogers said Jaheim Singletary left the hospital the day of his Bowling Green collision and was in concussion protocol with a stiff neck. He was in good spirits, but return depended on clearing the protocol; Rogers did not clear him for Utah.

Rogers said Iowa State's Beni Ngoyi completed the whole practice and should be good to go. Drew Surges was doing some practice work and was expected to play, but the staff would continue assessing his progress; the two updates were not equivalent unconditional clearances.

Iowa State's Ryver Peppers was dressing and working back into practice, with live tackling planned that week to reacclimate him after time without being taken to the ground. Rogers described a gradual return to contact, not confirmed game availability or a set workload.

Rogers said Iowa State's Utah preparation must account for two quarterbacks sharing the field, motion from six-open formations and option exchanges. He emphasized correct defensive counts, disciplined eyes, perimeter one-on-one coverage and mixing in zone rather than announcing a new base defense.
