(original post) When billionaire businessman and Indiana University alum Mark Cuban discussed his donations to the Indiana athletic department, he revealed that his... show more “Cuban praised head coach Curt Cignetti for his strategic approach to team-building, focusing on role players and production over simple bidding wars.” This would indicate to me that Cignetti was somewhat frugal with the money he was given. He also said in the same article that the AD told him they wanted Mendoza but they needed more nil money. Cuban helped. That could mean he gave a million dollars or 10 who knows? Heck he gave 6 million for the campus rugby club. He made it clear that the money was handed to the AD to dole out as he sees fit. To believe that Cignetti had $40 million for his team is to call him a liar. I don’t know the guy from Adam’s house cat, but he doesn’t strike me as such. Cuban has also donated gobs of money for other things on campus in the sports realm. That money could be included in some of the claims. Of course, if they used money they had earmarked for the things Cuban donated to and gave them to football… Understood I’m not standing up for Cignetti. I’m just saying it’s possible that $40 million may not be accurate.
