The betting line swings in favor of Oregon ahead of road game at USC
Summary
Pick/market: The Oregon Ducks were viewed as a 5.5-point favorite for Saturday's road game at USC during the buildup to the start of the 2026 season.
The Oregon Ducks were viewed as a 5.5-point favorite for Saturday's road game at USC during the buildup to the start of the 2026 season. The line shifted in favor of USC early into this week, but now there has been another major swing in the odds midway through the week.
Updated odds from DraftKings have Oregon listed as 3-point favorite over the Trojans.
The shift comes after Oregon's 39-31 loss at Oklahoma State two weekends ago, while USC has opened its season 4-0. Earlier this week, the Ducks were a 1.5-point underdog as of Sunday morning. Oregon responded to its first loss of the year with an 84-0 win over Portland State on Friday night last week, but the Ducks know the level of competition will rise considerably this weekend in Los Angeles.
"It's certainly not just another game. This is a significant game against a really good team, an undefeated team," said Dan Lanning earlier this week
"The environment is going to be unbelievable there at the Coliseum. Coach Riley's teams are always really hard to stop offensively. They've got a lot of great players that are playing at a high level."
Lanning acknowledged that a dominant performance against Portland State isn't necessarily a complete indication of where Oregon stands entering a much tougher stretch of its schedule. Still, the Ducks accomplished what they needed to after a disappointing trip to Oklahoma State.
"They enjoyed this win, but they're hungry for what's next," Lanning said.
What's next is an undefeated USC team and Oregon's first opportunity to play a true road game against the Trojans under Lanning.
Quarterback Dante Moore also pointed toward Oregon's preparation as an important takeaway from Friday night's performance.
"This game showed how we practiced this week," Moore said. "We're going to keep carrying this momentum."
Moore said the loss to Oklahoma State forced Oregon to look internally at its preparation, accountability and leadership. The Ducks responded with their cleanest and most complete performance of the young season Friday.
"A win is a win. No matter the opponent," Moore said.
Oregon receiver Evan Stewart described the Portland State victory as a "good bounce-back game," but also made it clear the Ducks believe there is another level they haven't reached yet.
Now they'll get an opportunity to prove that against USC.
Lanning's Oregon program is 2-0 against the Trojans, with both games played in Eugene. Oregon won 42-27 last season after beating USC 36-27 in 2023.
The Ducks have won four straight meetings against USC, including two consecutive games in Los Angeles. USC's last win in the series came in 2016, when the Trojans defeated Oregon 45-20 at the Coliseum. Oregon has won eight of the last 10 meetings overall.
