In Arizona's Sept. 24, 2026 notebook, Brent Brennan confirms defensive back Daylen Austin has a season-ending injury. Arizona used Brandon Phelps in the slot against Northern Illinois, a departure from his previous usage. In the 2026 notebook, Brennan links inside-outside flexibility to mixing receiver body types and notes that some calls and assignments differ. This documents game usage, not a permanent move or a new starting lineup.

Brennan called it his most confident and physical performance since arriving and linked faster play to learning the scheme. The 2026 assessment supports recent expanded usage, not a guaranteed starting role or future snap share.
