My reflections from the drive home: Where do we go from here?
Summary
Pick/market: Memories fade, but if I recall correctly some fraternities had a few incidents on campus and it seemed like the whole world was becoming anti-Greek during Bennett's tenure.

Can’t say for anything recent since I’ve been almost 5 years removed from undergrad.... show more Memories fade, but if I recall correctly some fraternities had a few incidents on campus and it seemed like the whole world was becoming anti-Greek during Bennett's tenure. I don't recall him doing anything to curb Greek life but I don't think he heavily bolstered it. I know during his tenure it got more onerous to have a "party", and these parties that were allowed were nothing like what we had back in the day. (Apologies for sounding like an ole timer, but there were at least 5 bands going on the row after every football game. It was an event for the entire campus) But regardless of what Bennett did or did not do, JP is the president now. What's the excuse for not encouraging band parties up and down the row? Parties bring girls. Girls bring boys. Combined means more students on campus for football games and establishing alumnus who care about athletics. (Fraternity boy marries sorority girl, the best times of their life were at USM and after football games. When they have kids, they come back to campus, cherish those memories, and become involved alumnus) Let them play loud music from 9-1. Let them have fun. And I really don't want to hear about liability concerns...the two schools up north have figured out a way to manage it, so can we. Someone tell me how I am wrong here. I'm sure I'm missing something.
