I was originally thinking this should be a reasonably easy win. Now I beginning to see why it’s only a 6.5-point spread. I still do think we’ll win, and if the chips fall right we might even do so by a sizable amount. But unconventional offenses can be, if not scary, at least concerning. I’m sure they’ve been trying to emulate the Rice offense in practice all week. But (1) our scout team can only emulate them so well; and (2) the defense only needs to make a few wrong reads to give up some big plays and possibly some points. If there is one thing we can feel confident in this year, it’s our defense. But I will feel a bit more comfortable after we stop them on a few drives.
