Singleton has missed the previous two games after suffering an ankle injury shortly into UF's 66-21 victory over Florida Atlantic in the season-opener, although he traveled with the Gators Saturday to Auburn in an attempt to face his former team. Singleton participated in pre-game warmups yet ultimately was ruled out for precautionary reasons, as UF head coach Jon Sumrall looked to avoid Singleton suffering a setback in the early stretch of the 2026 season.
"He did warmups on game day, moved around. We probably could have like said, 'Hey, let's be dumb tough here and do it.' I felt like it was best. I already told him going into it. I said, 'Hey, you're going to have to look real good and feel real good for me to.' I said, 'Don't lie to me,' and he moved around. He maybe could have gone, but I wasn't going to let his desire to play in that situation override common sense. Common sense has to prevail. You force a guy like that back too soon with his skillset, and then something bad happens that we could have avoided, and then you set him back four more weeks. It's like, 'Well, that was a bad idea.' He may come back when he's right. You never know what's going to happen with a guy, but we're going to make good, educated decisions about his return. He will have a shot," UF head coach Jon Sumrall said Monday. "I mean, he was questionable, game-time decision last week. That's what he is at worst this week. He's questionable again, game-time decision. He did a little bit more today than he's done. He'll probably get to do that all week, and then Saturday we'll warm him up and if he is great, we're going to play. If it's like, 'Man, I'm not feeling good cutting or I don't feel like I can hold up,' then I'll say, 'Hey, man, enjoy watching the game.' What I would say, I am very grateful for E about. We give out an award each week to the guy on the team that has the best spirit in the game that's got great energy and great juice. He was that award winner internally with our team this week because his sideline engagement, his encouragement with teammates, was phenomenal. Great teammate, man."
SEC school personnel must submit availability reports three days before each football game, with daily updates leading to a final report 90 minutes before game time. Players are designated as "available," "probable," "questionable," "doubtful," or "out" before game day; and as "available," "game time decision," or "out" on game day.
