We were already sinking and had to end the game there . We didn’t have the depth of talent and guys like Coleman Bryson had to play major snaps for us down the stretch. Missed tackles galore. Anybody knows being up by a goal or or field goal in any sport with the other team mounting a comeback /pressuring is the worst spot. You’re just trying to hang on for dear life. The delay essentially killed any chance we had to end the game on that drive Post delay it was fresh vs fresh (but our depth was still worse by then) but pre delay on that drive it was dominating versus tired DL and we needed that last shot to try and seal it. Simple as that. The delay was and is usually going to favor the team that’s more talented and mounting the comeback against one hanging on for dear life. With the way Billy was playing , that was a must score TD. Everybody knows when blood is leaking and everybody on the other team could smell it. That was our last hope . The blood came from Billy. He was cooked and wounded since start of second . If Billy had been anything close to serviceable I bet you the entire team would have rallied but it’s psychologically defeating knowing your team is a sitting duck due to failure after failure from the qb play. I know for a fact after the game some young guys on D were hella pissed at Billy and told their families as such. They felt all their efforts went to waste . Billy has one last crack at it against ND to show that was a one off worst game of his college career and bounce back to save his starting job. Otherwise they will have to pull the leash. Worst case if Miles and or Burgess struggle you pop Billy back in and you aren’t worse off. Sometimes a benching is good for a qb like it was for Bryce Yougn. Pitt benched their stud qb Eli Holstein qb last year and he was wayyy more well regarded than Billy. That saves their season last year. Syracuse is about to bench Angeli soon for Odom.
