Texas RB Hollywood Smothers again listed as questionable on Thursday's SEC player availability report

Injury: AUSTIN, Texas – The second Southeastern Conference availability report for Saturday's showdown between No.
AUSTIN, Texas – The second Southeastern Conference availability report for Saturday's showdown between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee was released on Thursday evening.
After being listed as probable on Wednesday, Longhorns' star EDGE Colin Simmons (lower leg) was removed from the report entirely, while starting running back Hollywood Smothers (ankle) was listed as questionable for the second consecutive day.
Texas' concern shifts to Smothers, who serves as the team's leading rusher through three games. The 5-11, 196-pounder has rushed for 198 yards on 41 carries and two touchdowns, while adding seven receptions for 54 yards and one score as a receiver.
Per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, no final determination has been made as to Smothers' availability, but his status for the game is in question.
If Smothers is unavailable on Saturday, Texas will likely turn to Raleek Brown as the starter against the Volunteers.
Brown, an Arizona State transfer, has rushed for 129 yards on 31 attempts with two scores. Behind Brown are true freshman Derrek Cooper (13 carries, 50 yards, 1td) and second-year player Michael Terry III (10 carries, 47 yards) against a Tennessee run defense which enters Saturday's game allowing an average of 138 yards per game on the ground.
Texas sophomore tight end Nick Townsend (knee), who started the first two games this season, is now listed as out after being listed as doubtful on Wednesday and defensive lineman Justus Terry (foot) is listed as out. Townsend suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of Texas' 24-23 win over Ohio State on Sept. 12. Sarkisian said Terry suffered his foot injury in pre-game warmups for the Ohio State game.
"That hurt because we had a plan for him in this game," Sarkisian said of Terry following Texas' victory over Ohio State. "We were counting on him, and in football sometimes that happens. You know, and you just deal with it. Hopefully, we get him back sooner rather than later because he is performing at a high level."
The Volunteers have five players listed as out for Saturday's game. Four of those players - TE Ethan Davis, WR Joakim Dodson, LB Jaedon Harmon and DB Edrees Farooq - had previously suffered season-ending injuries. The fifth Vols player listed as out - DB Dylan Lewis - played 54 snaps through the first three games of the season.
Tennessee starting defensive tackle Nathan Robinson is listed as questionable along with Vols' RB Javin Gordon, who has 20 carries for 79 yards (4.0 ypc) and missed last week's game against Kennesaw State.
Thursday's report is the second of several, which will be released daily at approximately 7:10 p.m. Central Time, with the final update coming 90 minutes prior to kickoff on gamedays.
