Red Wolves, Kennesaw look alike
Summary
Pick/market: The early season resumes for the Arkansas State Red Wolves and Kennesaw State Owls are very similar.
The early season  resumes for the Arkansas State Red Wolves and Kennesaw State Owls are very similar. The teams, both 1-2 on the season, have played almost mirrored schedules and their lone wins have been over West Georgia, 47-0 by the Owls and 52-7 for the Red Wolves. The losses for Kennesaw 31-17 to Georgia State and 42-9 to Tennessee. Arkansas State has lost to Memphis 42-24 and TCU 31-7. "Obviously not the result that we wanted, but we learned a lot about our team at the Tennessee game,'' said Kennesaw coach Jerry Mack. "But I'll tell you what we learned a lot about our team from with their effort and strain that we consistently talk about. "There were some good plays with some flashes on the offensive side early in the game and late in the games. I saw some guys make some plays in that environment and in the moment. There was some physicality in the trenches that sometimes goes unnoticed that we  were really impressed with.  "On the defensive side of the ball I was really proud of the way those guys hustled and ran to the ball and were aggressive and they continued to play through the whistle no matter what time it was in the game. We tried some new personnel packages in the game and some new lineups as well to try to find the best combination more than anything else that we were looking for. There was so much to grow from that film and in that game.  We had some young guys who got to play and the moment was not too big. One of the biggest things we saw guys continue to  encourage one another no matter what the score was and coming together." Like Kennesaw, the Red Wolves are coming off a road loss at a Power-4 school. After three games Jones is also still in the process of learning more about this team. "Everyting is about the accumulation of knowledge  and I think we're finding finding out more about this football team,'' said Jones. "We are accumulating more knowledge about every player individually as well. What I have found is this team is going to compete and they love to compete and they've got a connection about themselves." Kennesaw won last season 28-21, jumping to a 21-7 lead. "It's going to be a battle,'' said Mack, who played at Arkansas State in the early 2000s. "I feel like they're in the same situation that we are in trying  to continue to learn about their team and to learn where they are at. They've kind of faced the same kind of schedule  so to speak from the standpoint that they played a G6 opponent and FCS opponent and a Power-4  opponent just like we have.  "So they're in a similar situation that we walked into last year at this point of the season, that fourth game of the year we're still trying to figure out who exactly who we are in a lot of aspects. "Coach Jones has done a great job of building a program and that's what we aspire to do here at Kennesaw. They have multiple bowl victories and appearances. They put together a  great group offense, defense and special teams. You can consistently see the program continue to get bigger and better throughout the course of the years and we're looking forward to going down
