I learned this song in third grade at Conlee Elementary. And it seems appropriate as a pregame song for this years version of Aggie / Lobos Football. When I learned it we sung it often in third grade and maybe fourth grade. Seemed like a good deal back then. Here are the lyrics I can find = Under a sky of azure, Where balmy breezes blow, Kissed by the golden sunshine, Is Nuevo Mejico. Land of the Montezuma, With fiery hearts aglow, Land of the deeds historic, Is Nuevo Mejico. O, Fair New Mexico, We love, we love you so, Our hearts with pride o’reflow, No matter where we go. O, Fair New Mexico, We love, we love you so, The grandest state to know New Mexico. Rugged and high sierras, With deep canyons below, Dotted with fertile valleys, Is Nuevo Mejico. Fields full of sweet alfalfa, Richest perfumes bestow, State of apple blossoms, Is Nuevo Mejico. O, Fair New Mexico, We love, we love you so, Our hearts with pride o’reflow, No matter where we go. O, Fair New Mexico, We love, we love you so, The grandest state to know New Mexico. Days that are full of heart-dreams, Nights when the moon hangs low; Beaming its benedictions, O’er Nuevo Mejico. Land with its bright manana, Coming through weal and woe; State of esperanza, Is Nuevo Mejico. O, Fair New Mexico, We love, we love you so, Our hearts with pride o’reflow, No matter where we go. O, Fair New Mexico, We love, we love you so, The grandest state to know New Mexico. This video version below is a little more dramatic than we used to sing back in the day but it seems like a good one for our pregame tailgates. Feel free to play this song at least once at your tailgate at AMS, or wherever you may be, on Saturday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xrSW9cWuc0 Under a sky of azure. Not many states can lead with that. May the best team win on Saturday under a sky of azure. Go Aggies. JT
