24 team championship playoff?
Summary
6-6-4-4-1-3 model preferred; prevents further consolidation while guaranteeing ACC/Big 12 minimum 4 bids.
Trouttramp said... (original post) Just how many automatic bids does the mighty SEC think they deserve? Im guessing something like eight, I‘m sure Sankey will push for 10, but wil... show more 8-8-3-3-1-1 is absurd but possible. 6-6-3-3-1-5 is more likely but I think too much committee power. 6-6-4-4-1-3 I think would be my preference. It’s not like 4 ACC teams were worthy last year but I like preventing further consolidation, and the other 2 conferences getting at least 4 protects them. SEC probably would prefer all at large over this though. 7-7-4-4-1-1 could work. Edit: Looking at top 24 from last year final CFP rankings, that last model would have knocked out Houston (who wasn’t ranked in AP and 9-3) and James Madison (I think most are okay with that) in favor of Duke (who won the ACC) and… UW in the 24 seed. We would have played at Alabama in round one.
