After Louisville's 30-27 loss to Wake Forest, Jeff Brohm said Wake stuffed the Cardinals' early rushing attempts with movement and penetration, while Louisville did not block or play physically enough up front. With quarterback Lincoln's running contained, Louisville leaned on passing; Brohm questioned whether that is currently the offense's strength, not an announced quarterback change.

Brohm said Louisville's penalties persisted against Wake Forest despite the staff already addressing them in detail. He said he must find another way to correct the problem this week; he did not specify a new discipline measure or say the issue is fixed.

After Wake Forest's big passing plays, Brohm called Louisville's pass defense poor and said its 2026 coverage has not eliminated deep gains the way it did last year. He said the staff will re-examine its approach, but did not announce a coverage or safety-lineup change.

Brohm identified Louisville's defensive interior as a weakness after the Wake Forest loss, citing edges getting knocked out and insufficient firmness against counters and inside zone. Those are his postgame run-fit concerns, not a confirmed personnel or scheme change.

Brohm said Nick is Louisville's long-field-goal kicker and was used for distance against Wake Forest after making kicks from 60-plus yards in practice. He said the lower trajectory requires firm protection and Wake blocked that attempt; he separated it from Carson's missed kick. The transcript does not provide either kicker's surname or announce a new everyday kicker.
