KW was this conservative even at UT?
Summary
QB/RB: Not sure how much of this conservativeness was largely bad playcalling.
Not sure how much of this conservativeness was largely bad playcalling. Going for it on 4th and 1 isn't conservative. Dialing up a quarterback leap/sneak was boneheaded and perhaps somewhat conservative?
Running it with the running back in a three point stance two times from the goal line and then rolling out to pass after those were stuffed wasn't necessarily conservative. It was bad playcalling or bad execution.
Trying to run out the clock by handing it off instead of trusting your QB to throw when the two minute warning was approaching was the only thing that was really conservative. However, UM had been moving the ball on the ground the prior drive until penalties hamstrung them.
This is all to say that it wasn't super conservative playcalling. It was bad play calls and bad execution accept at the end not trusting your QB to ice it. My two cents at least.
