#24 Mississippi State (4-0, 2-0 SEC) knocked off #19 Missouri (3-1, 0-1 SEC) before a sellout crowd at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday night. The game went down to the final play, but like most of those plays in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs made that one too. With that final pass break-up, Coach Jeff Lebby's team remained undefeated and well on their way towards bowl eligibility and perhaps their first winning season since 2022. On the other side of the coin, Mizzou tasted defeat for the first time this season. With the win, the Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak to the Tigers and earned their first home league win since that 2022 season.  Following the game, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz met with the media to discuss the loss and his feelings about what went wrong during the contest. Here is what he had to say about the Bulldogs and the game's result. Opening statement: Credit to Mississippi State and their football team. They've got a good football team. They made the plays in the fourth quarter to win the game and we didn't. We had our opportunities and didn't get it done. We had opportunities in the first quarter, but didn't play particularly well or clean and then obviously in the fourth quarter.  We have lots [of room] to continue to grow and get better from. That's what we will have to do. It is going to hurt for a while, because we gave ourselves an opportunity twice to tie it up. We didn't get that done, so that's going to hurt. I was proud of our guys for the fight and it was a great football game." On the inability to prevent Mississippi State's explosive plays on offense: You can hold them all game, but if you give up two big ones that's the difference. Obviously, those are great throws by the quarterback. He played really well tonight. Hats of to them. On the game winning drive for the Bulldogs: [They had] the explosive pass. We had them backed up and we even had the penalty. We just didn't do a good enough job. We gave up 360 yards throwing tonight.  On the Mississippi State crowd: I mean, it's life in the SEC. That game on the road is going to be challenging. You expect a fight and you've got to find a way to win. On Bulldog back Fluff Bothwell: I thought there was a lot of leak yardage. There was that check down that was big, I think, in the tying touchdown drive. We had a third down pressure and he leaked out of the backfield and then he gained an extra four yards after contact. He is a hard runner, a very physical player.  On defending Kamario Taylor: I have to go back and look at the calls, to be honest. I have to go back and look at the calls. Mississippi State will host Alabama next Saturday with a morning kickoff scheduled. The final details about game time and the broadcast partner will be announced on Monday. Missouri will host Florida.
