Honestly, it’s hard for me to criticize Innis because a lot of it isn’t his fault…he simply doesn’t get many opportunities. But when his number is called, I’ve seen him put his body on the line and make critical catches in traffic. He does his job, blocks well, plays hard, and seems like a great team player. My real concern is the defensive front seven, period. Too many guys are consistently out of position, not making plays, or simply not showing that “IT” factor you need on that side of the ball. And with some of the older guys, I’m starting to wonder if we’ve already seen their ceiling. At some point, production has to matter more than experience. If the veterans aren’t getting it done, it may be time to let some of these younger guys get meaningful reps and see what they can bring.
