Final thoughts on KU's performance vs. CBU
Summary
Tre White's shot selection/selfishness late vs CBU was horrendous; Self needs timeout reckoning if repeated. DP deferred too much. Refs favored CBU narrative; dangerous no-call on Flory.

I have no clue what Tre White was thinking in the last 4m or so of game time. Apparently it’s that he’s the man on this team, because his shot selection and selfishness were horrendous.
DP standing in the corner, hands on knees, barely moving was also concerning, but the couple times he asked for the ball he got waved off and I think his natural instinct is to be a good teammate and defer, and it led to really bad decisions by White and Council. If that happens again even once against SJU, Self needs to call timeout and have a reckoning.
Also the rotations did get sloppy late defensively, but Daniels pushing off nonstop and getting no calls, and concurrently driving and getting several weak to atrocious foul calls, certainly didn’t help. It really felt like the CBU home crowd/Cinderella narrative influenced them late. The no call diving on Flory’s leg (which could’ve ended his season) should be grounds to not advance the crew for more games. If I was Self I’d quietly raise that to whomever evaluates the officials.
That’s not about not getting a call, that’s about ignoring player safety. If not called then, what’s to stop a team from doing it again except next time someone does get hurt, possibly badly?
