I’ve seen 3 National Championship FB Coaches come to USC, one conference championship between those 3 at USC. Duh, this is a different place, and your up and comers are not prepared for it. We need a coach who understands this place and has the character to face an onslaught early on. Spurrier was wandering without a job, he was the right guy at the time. I like Dan Mullen.OBTW. In the 130+ years of USC FB, no head coach has gotten another head coaching job immediately following his departure. Most of them were fired. Sparky Woods was hired as the VMI HC about 10 years later but was let go after 5-6 years. This is the dictionary definition of a graveyard. Donati is going to have the hurdle of his life to get over and hire a guy who can win consistently and big every now and then. If this charade continues with Beamer we lose leverage on the job market. OBTW#2. Has anyone seen Beamer and Briles together on the sidelines during games? That don’t pass the smell test.
