Texas A&M vs LSU Grades: How Did Aggies' Fare in Week 4 Loss?
Summary
Pick/market: Fair grades, Tony.
Fair grades, Tony. On Reed, we went back and forth before the season about the proper amount of skepticism to have with Reed. He went 11-0. Since then he's 2-4 against P4 teams. We didn't know, during fall practice, what the problem was.
Reed has a problem with decisions, and ball security. Klein handled that well enough to go 9-0, before he checked out early for his next job. Wiggins and Fat Mike appear to think that Reed needs better vibes, but they are wrong. He needs assignments he can win. They haven't gotten that for him.
I understand that fall practice might be encouraging. Keep in mind that Reed was going against an A&M defense that makes all P4 QB's look like Heisman candidates. "I went two weeks with no interceptions" is a very low bar when you play a team that can't get pressure and you're wearing a green jersey at practice.
I hope you feel a grain of healthy skepticism growing in your mind. Skeptics rule.
Reed earned that F, and so did the coaching staff. There is not another staff in the SEC, the ACC, or the Big12 who wouldn't put Reed into situations he could win almost every play. The bigger problem is, Fat Mike et the program on Reed and Wiggins running it back. I think he's smart enough to learn the lesson. What they've done to Reed is criminal. There are probably 4 different things they could have done with motion and rollouts but instead Fat Mike called him a head case and Wiggins doesn't appear to have changed anything.
Like I said elsewhere, this program better be phoenix, because right now it looks like ashes.
