Ron Crook set us way back at the position that is probably the hardest to simply "quick fix". It's not just about improving the talent in the room, it's about making those guys optimally work together. One guy breaking down can effectively break the whole line.
Additionally, because EVERYONE wants ready-made pieces at OL, there's a premium placed on those guys. Guys don't come out of HS ready generally.. they need time in a college S&C program and even just for their bodies to mature further with that S&C. Long and short, you can't really plug and play a new line and all is well. You've got to find and develop the right guys in the right combinations. From scratch (as Crook basically left us), it probably takes at least 3 years to build an OL that is good enough to support a great offense.
Here in year 2... even healthy I would expect a ton of bumps along the road. The injury lumps could benefit us in a big way next year though.
