Everything Fresno State coach Matt Entz said after 38-24 win over Rice
Summary
Coaching: The Fresno State Bulldogs defeated the Rice Owls 38-24 on Saturday.
The Fresno State Bulldogs defeated the Rice Owls 38-24 on Saturday. After the game, head coach Matt Entz discussed what the Bulldogs did to get the victory.  The Bulldogs trailed 17-14 at halftime and had surrendered 342 yards of offense in the first half. But Fresno State opened the third quarter with a surprise onside kick and recovered it, sparking 17 consecutive points to open the second half. The Bulldogs also held Rice to -3 yards in the third quarter.  Entz said in an opening statement, "Thank goodness the week is over. That quarterback might have been top two players that we have had to defend as a team in my coaching career. Tremendous athlete, made a lot of plays with his legs. We thought we had some pressure on him in different times and he just took off running. They are gonna win some ball games because of him. They are tough to defend. We saw that tonight. We've got really good defensive coaches and when you give up three explosive plays it's tough.  "But at the end of the day, complimentary football. Our offense showed up and did a really good job. They struggled to defend us on the perimeter. Late in the game we made some adjustments to our run game. They were bringing a lot of what I call snake pressure, nickel and mike from the field. We checked GT into it a couple times and popped some big ones. Really well done by our offensive staff to come up with the answers, the solutions to the test at halftime."
