Arkansas (2-2, 0-1, SEC) took down Tulsa (3-1, 0-0, AAC) on Saturday, 34-6, in Fayetteville, and fifth-year wide receiver Chris Marshall delivered once again for the Razorbacks in a big way to help the Hogs put an end to a two-game losing streak in the first night game of the year from Razorback Stadium. The 6-3, 213-pound wide receiver caught nine passes for 195 yards (21.7 avg.) and a touchdown. His 195 yards were the sixth most in a single game in program history. Marshall also became the first Arkansas wide receiver since Andrew Armstrong to record consecutive 100-yard receiving games after logging 104 receiving yards in Arkansas' 45-17 loss to Georgia. "Phenomenal," Arkansas head coach Ryan Silverfield said after the win. "I joked around on third down, let's just throw the ball to him. That was the play call. But no, listen, he's been tremendous. He's done a great job of finding ways to get open, making the tough catches, and there's some stuff that we talked about. "Ball security, but when he got into traffic, two hands on the ball, and you need those types of guys. Sometimes you need that spark on offense, and he's been just tremendous. Since the moment he stepped foot on campus, he's been exactly what we wanted. He's bought in, and I couldn't be more proud of his effort tonight." "We came out with a great game plan first, and I feel like we executed to a high standard," Marshall said. The standard was set coming into the game. We went out there and executed." Marshall was consistently a guy that junior quarterback KJ Jackson could fall back on when needed. On eight of Arkansas' third-down conversions, four of them went to Marshall. The Missouri City (Texas) native also had both of Arkansas' longest plays of the day, and he also pulled in the Hogs only receiving touchdown of the night.  His longest catch of 50 yards came with 7:43 left in the second quarter when Jackson found Marshall over the seam and perfectly layered the ball over the defender into his breadbasket. He picked up a few extra yards after the catch, and Arkansas capitalized with a 35-yard field goal by senior kicker Max Gilbert to extend the lead to 13-0. Marshall's second-longest catch of 44 yards came on Arkansas' second possession at the 5:49 mark of the first quarter on third and eight. He ran a go route, blew by both Tulsa defenders, and Jackson just threw it up for him to make a play. "He makes playing football really easy," Jackson said. "He makes really quick and decisive decisions. Tonight, we did a good job of being on the same page when it comes to all your option routes, and he won. That's what he's here to do. My belief is through the moon with Chris. I know that he's going to go make a play. "I know he's going to work his tail off every single day, and it builds from the spring, the fall, the winter. He's been grinding since day one, and he's been showing that mentality since day one. He's one of the hardest working guys in the building. "That belief, it doesn't just come from him making plays, which we all know he can do. It comes from how he goes about his business every single day." "I think as a quarterback it is good to know, but we've got so much faith in all of our wide receivers," Silverfield said. "Every person. The tight ends, we talked about the check downs to the running backs. All the wide receivers we have great faith in. "Chris has done a nice job of finding, whether it's man coverage or holes in the zone of getting there, and if KJ goes through his right read progression and throws to him, great with that. Obviously you've got to be smart, I don't want him just looking at him and throwing to him immediately. "I have a sneaking suspicion that teams are going to start rolling coverage to him and trying to see what they're doing. Or maybe putting their best corner on him and we're going to have answers for that as well." Arkansas' win over Tulsa ends the two-game losing streak, but it also put an end to a 12-game losing streak to FBS opponents. Now the Hogs gear up for their gauntlet of SEC play beginning next Saturday vs. Texas A&M. Kickoff from Kyle Field in College Station is at 6 p.m. (CDT), and the game will be televised by ESPN2.
