East Carolina made it two in a row in the win column on Saturday evening, taking down FCS foe North Carolina Central, 42-9, to conclude non-conference play. The Pirates (2-2) jumped out to a 42-3 lead at the half and largely coasted from there, not scoring a single point after halftime, but ultimately winning easily in the process. Emory Williams got his first start at quarterback and threw for more than 300 yards, and ECU outgained the Eagles (2-3) by a significant margin.  Pro Football Focus has released its initial game grades coming out of the contest. For those unfamiliar, PFF grades each player on each play, and assigns a grade that ultimately converts to a game grade on a scale of 0-100. A grade of 60 is considered average, 70 is good, 80 is great, and anything in the 90s is elite.  From a team grading perspective, ECU posted the following numbers: Overall (81.2), Offense (60.5), Passing (63.7), Pass Blocking (90.0), Receiving (58.6), Running (53.2), Run Blocking (56.0), Defense (90.8), Run Defense (91.3), Tackling (74.7), Pass Rush (77.1), Coverage (90.4). Below, we run down PFF's initial grading for each individual ECU offensive and defensive player, coming out of the game. Keep in mind: These grades are done upon initial review, largely of just the TV copy. The metrics are often adjusted later in the week upon further evaluation, when All-22 becomes available. The grades are also considered somewhat subjective, because PFF does not necessarily know every player's assignment on every single play. That said, a large sample size should provide a fairly accurate snap shot of who played well, and who did not.
