As the Oregon Ducks await further information on the status of star quarterback Dante Moore, head coach Dan Lanning released a statement Sunday with the latest information.
Lanning reports that Moore sustained a concussion but no further injuries.
A statement from Lanning said, "Dante sustained a concussion in last night's game but fortunately his MRI and CT scans came back clean and he did not suffer any additional injuries. Every concussion is different and we are going to move forward with an abundance of caution to ensure we make the best decisions for Dante and his future. We are extremely appreciative of our entire medical staff and the medical staffs at USC and LA General County Hospital for their quick and thorough action in making sure Dante received the very best care possible."
Moore was injured in Oregon's eventual 41-27 win at USC on Saturday. Moore was 8-of-10 for 77 yards with 10 rushing yards at the time of his injury.
The Ducks were trailing 7-3 and threatening to take the lead when Moore scrambled up field and slid 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. As he was sliding, USC linebacker Desman Stephens II came in and collided late with Moore. Moore would be taken off the field via ambulance after an immediate medical evaluation.
Lanning said after the game, "It's a disgusting play. You don't want to see it happen. It's disappointing that it happened. I'm praying that our player is healthy, and I'm praying that their player can learn from that situation because that's not a moment you want to be a part of."
On Sunday, USC announced that Stephens will be suspended for one game. The suspension was made not only for the hit, but for his celebratory reactions after the hit.
Dylan Raiola stepped in and went 19-of-25 for 289 yards and 2 touchdowns in Moore's place. His 29-yard touchdown pass to Dakorien Moore broke a 27-27 tie midway through the fourth quarter.
