Entire offensive sequence leading up to that decision was disjointed. Zero feel for the game. Offense needed a reset and punting was absolutely the right call.
I understand why Lincoln made that decision in his mind but it’s a microcosm of the biggest issue with his program. He talks about being a defensive football team and establishing a tough culture then turns around and makes decisions that reek of fear and insecurity. How do you establish a tough defensive culture if you constantly take the opening kick off and don’t make decisions to help your defense?
