Sunday evening South Carolina football injury report
Summary
Injury: South Carolina saw one player go down with an injury in the 49-18 loss to Alabama on Saturday evening in Tuscaloosa and not return to the game.
South Carolina saw one player go down with an injury in the 49-18 loss to Alabama on Saturday evening in Tuscaloosa and not return to the game. Defensive lineman Kelby Collins left the game due to injury late in the first quarter and would not return to the matchup. Collins, an Alabama transfer, only played seven snaps against the Crimson Tide on Saturday before leaving the game due to injury. On Sunday, head coach Shane Beamer provided the latest on Collins, as well as linebacker Shawn Murphy, who only played one snap on Saturday. "Shawn Murphy was available, but played one play, didn't think he was going to be able to go after that. Think he should be OK," Beamer said. "Kelby Collins had a significant injury during the game where he got really poked in the eye, but they were concerned that there was some more significant damage to his actual face. "So he actually left and went to a local hospital in Tuscaloosa during the game to get some more work and test done. Everything came back OK. He flew back with us last night and has a meeting with an ophthalmologist today, so hopefully he'll be OK going forward." In five games played this season, Collins has totaled five tackles, one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry. Three of his five tackles came against Mississippi State last weekend in the SEC opener. Murphy has been credited with 10 tackles with 1.5 resulting for loss and 0.5 sack to start the 2026 season. Five of his 10 stops came against the Bulldogs in Week 3. South Carolina will return to Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday to take on No. 24 Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m. and will be televised on SEC Network.
