Defensive minded head coaches are great for the overall physicality of a team and generally have more aggressive teams that play downhill-fast. However, are not necessarily known for creative offenses... Offensive minded head coaches generally have more offensive concepts to attack a defense but unfortunately generally have less aggressive teams and generally don't play downhill fast... If you can find an offensive head coach whose teams play downhill fast, you will generally find that they also have an above average defense, and rarely have great defenses, a la, Texas or Ohio State and thereby have a formidable team.. Defensive coaches better have a really good OC or at the minimum, stalwart RBs in order to open up that offense a bit. My point is you can go either way but practices have to be very physical, at the very least...and that means alot of smash mouth in practice.
