I was born and raised in Auburn, and have been a lifelong fan. I was a student during the worst period of Auburn football history. I’m as pessimistic an Auburn fan as you could possibly be, but man even I’m tired of all the negativity around our program.
Yes, it hasn’t been as pretty as we hoped. Yes, we gave up a ton of points to a really good Florida team. Yes, we have weaknesses on the lines of scrimmage that have to be addressed, and Byrum hasn’t been the savior we hoped. That said:
We’ve also won two close games already this season, both of which we would’ve lost last year.
Our one loss came to a Florida team that just knocked off top 5 Ole Miss, and who very well might be a contender for the SEC.
Our offense (Byrum in particular) actually has a ton of encouraging stats, even without an effective run game - see Stat’s post on Tiger Ticket
We have the entire season ahead of us to play for and to improve. Win at Tennessee and the narrative completely changes. I just don’t get the negativity.
