Let me say it again: this was not started as an issue concerning Saturday’s game. It was started because of comments made by the TV crew.
My first post is clear - I’m addressing the commentators comment; others mentioned the comment as well. But reading this thread about NIL having nothing to do with the loss has made me think about impact of NIL …. Of course it affects every game played.
Prior to NIL every team had same number of scholarships, and they coujd be distributed as needed to build the team. Nothing is equal under NIL. Our roster is a snapshot of where Jeff decided to spend his available money. There has been a lot of comment about losing the line of scrimmage - we apparently don’t have the $$$ to win the line of scrimmage AND bring in the skill players. We apparently don’t have the money to build solid depth. If Jeff has to choose how to build a roster based on “payroll” how can anybody say NIL has nothing to do with the outcome of every game?
No doubt the coaches have a huge responsibility to demand discipline and that is perhaps the single biggest reason we lost. Or maybe starting two backup safeties who don’t have the talent or communication to replace the starters is the reason.
Put it this way - if uk finds away to beat us this year, will NIL have anything to do with it? Absolutely. I bet every single poster is more concerned about the uk game (now that we’re three games in) than they were before the season began. Maybe some fans are concerned about winning/losing LOS. It appears uk spent a lot of money, NIL is a direct result of the two rosters. In one season - has uk rebuild a roster that can beat us? We’ll find out but this is an example of how NIL affects every game.
