We got linebacker Bryce Steel. We'll just go ahead and turn it over for questions. >> Bryce, just how did you feel um the defense did against Utah State? Let's just start there. >> Um I mean, obviously that first play uh the game defensively um wasn't what we expected. Um but I felt like in the first half we answered you know in a way uh you know in the second half um you know we we obviously didn't play to our expectation not how we practiced at all. Um we got a lot of things to fix. Um and you know that's what we plan on working on this upcoming week. Um obviously we didn't you know get the outcome we wanted in the game but um you know we got to move on and just continue improving as a team. Was there something that they did in the second half, any adjustment um that they made that it was hard to stop them from scoring? >> Um I feel like it was more Troy don't beat Troy more so than them beating us. Um you know, we had a lot of uh penalties, um eye violation, just you know, guys not paying attention to detail. Um and I feel like that's what really got us beat in the end. >> Dear Keys, uh starting that game, you know, he had a good interception. He had some penalties, too. um a little bit all over the place for him. You could tell that he wanted to battle back and really make up for some of those mistakes. As you as a veteran, what do you say to a guy like him after the game? >> Obviously, I mean, he's a he's a heck of a player. Um great player, actually, young guy. Um I mean, even though he's young, I feel like he's a lot more mature than, you know, what what he is in college and everything. And um you know, it's just continuing to uplift our teammates. Um and, you know, just give them, you know, positive feedback. Obviously, you know, nobody's perfect. We're all going to make mistakes. it's, you know, how you respond to those mistakes. Um, and, you know, he he knows that. Um, really didn't have to say too too much to him. Like I said, he's a lot more mature than than than what uh he is as far as how many years he's been in college and everything. Um, he's, like I said, he's a heck of a player and I expect him to have a a bounce back game this upcoming weekend. >> How do you guys stay strong mentally when things don't go your way? You kind of touched on it, that first drive, that's not something maybe you were expecting. How do you make those in-game adjustments? I know it must be difficult. >> Yeah, I mean it's obviously pretty cool having iPads on the sideline and everything so you can come back um you know watch the play exactly how it happened, make adjustments like that and then you know kind of call the game accordingly to that. And I feel like um that's kind of what we did. Um you know they just like they have filming us, you know, I mean just like we had film on them, they have filming us. So um you know it's it's just a matter of like I said before Troy not beating Troy. Um, and I felt like that was kind of really all teams have done this season is is Troy uh beating Troy. Like I don't think anyone's really scored on us because they were that much better than us. I think it was more so we beat ourselves or we made a mistake which allowed them to score or you know have explosive plays. >> You have a long week ahead of you guys. How how helpful is that? Um just having that little extra time to prepare for a conference opponent? Yeah, I mean it I mean we're four games into the season. Uh obviously football is a pretty violent game. So, uh just, you know, giving our bodies some time to to to kind of relax a little bit and obviously kind of take more of a mental approach as opposed to a physical approach of like a normal week. Um you know, we've already started watching film um and you know, getting a game plan and getting ready for for conference play. >> Running back Jordan Love it. And we'll turn it over to questions. Jordan, just how did you think the running the running game did um against Utah State over the weekend? >> Uh I feel like it was a good run game. You know, uh we had a lot of strategy for the uh defense that we played against, but you know, with us having three running backs rotating in the game, I just feel like it's a good thing to just give everybody a chance and also give everybody a break so we won't be so fatigued within the run game. >> Yeah. How nice is that having those two other guys, the rotation? It seems like you guys kind of have it down there. Um, how nice is that to have? >> I mean, it's pretty cool. You know, it's like they they they say it's like three-headed goats, you know? We kind of feed off of each other, you know, like one go in, we we make a big play, and then it's like, "Okay, let him eat." And then the next one go in, it's like, "Okay, like say he not feeling it right now." He come back to the sideline like, "All right, bro. It's time to pick up your energy. Let's go." And then like, like I said, it's just like we feeding off of each other. >> I like that three-headed goats. That's pretty good. Um, for you, I know you have that one long run, too. What did you see on that play? How good did that feel to get down the to get down the field? >> I mean, pretty normal. It's like practice, you know. Uh coaches always say practice how you play. And you know, I was practicing that play a lot this week. And then when it came to me, you know, I just just did what I had to do. It wasn't really nothing hard, you know. It's just playing ball at the end of the day. >> I was asking Coach Parker um just about Goose and the turnovers, the interceptions, and whatnot. What What do you say to him after a game like that? I mean, as him being the leader, you know, I always got to let him know like you're the leader of this team. So, if anybody see you down, they going to think it's okay to be down, too. So, I tell him to always keep his head up and don't let nothing like that bother you. You know, you got to be like a minute in black. You got to flash that flashlight and forget about it and just move on to the next. The more you dwell on something, that's that's when it that's when it eats you alive. So, I just tell him like keep your head up and keep going. Keep leading the way you do. And back-to-back games now, the offense hasn't scored in the second half. I mean, both of those defenses, Missouri and Utah State, are pretty dang good. But for you guys, you know, how do you keep a positive outlook and and you know, even when you're not scoring, how do you think the team's composure has been in the second half? >> I mean, we I mean, we got this thing we say plug in and compete. And I think that's what we do best when, you know, when when stuff don't go our way, we don't really like sit there and like try to cry b or feel bad for ourselves. We always try to find a way. So yeah, with us not scoring in the second half of each game, we know we we just learn off of moments like that. Like we don't really sit and let that bother us. It's just a time to just go and learn, like learn from your losses. You know, you you go and watch film, you see what you can do better, and then you just build off of that. >> Are you guys excited to be back at home this week? I know we've already kind of touched on it, getting that extra preparation time, but that home atmosphere probably has to feel good after being on the road for quite some time. >> Uh, yeah, it feel good to be home. I feel like the away games is what builds the team the most, you know? So, going on away games, I feel like that kind of help us find ourselves even more. And then with us coming back to a home game, I mean, like you said, just the fans, the culture, everything about Troy, that just makes us feel home. So, yeah, I'm excited to be back home. Jordan, with some injuries at tight end, um how has the offense kind of adjusted in your eyes? Are you getting some more blocking reps? Like kind of how how how have you guys adjusted to that? >> Uh it's really next man up. You know, we can't really sit, like I said, we can't really sit and feel bad for ourselves. You know, it's it's it's football. So at the end of the day, somebody gonna get hurt, somebody going to get injured, but everybody is already ready to embrace their role and just go ahead and step up for the next play. >> David, I saw you unmuted. Did you have a question? >> Yeah, I was going to ask you, Jordan, y'all been four games now into the season with Coach Austin in terms of this new offensive scheme. How have you felt y'all done in this new scheme so far? Uh, with the new scheme, I I really like it. You know, uh, I feel like it's a really spread offense. You know, they give everybody a chance to get what they want. You know, also with the coaches and the players, I feel like it helps everybody be on the same page.
