Summary
Pick/market: Nice write up.

I just can't agree with Carols though being "extremely good" or the offense being impressive. While we did put up yards, we struggled to move the ball consistently throughout the game against an inferior 1-3 FCS opponent. The majority of Carlos's throws are off target. They're either high or behind the WR. He overthrows Payne. Dude is 6'4". There have been so many big plays left on the field from poor ball placement. Also several times, especially down the stretch he just never saw wide open WRs. That INT he threw was one of he dumbest plays a QB can make and he almost lost the game on the final drive. I don't know if that was him or Wilkins just not running the right route, but we almost lost the game on an INT that probably goes the other way. Luckily Carlos didn't have a lot on that throw and it fell short of the breaking defender. His statline looks better than his play did. I love that the team never really gave up and kept fighting to not lose that game, but they struggled way too much on both sides. Like you said. The "how" we got to 3-1 is important. We've played three underwhelming to bad teams to get these three wins and each game was an unnecessary nailbiter. Maybe the team thought that too. Maybe they overlooked the last three games. Maybe we go down to JMU and surprise everyone. There's a lot of talk about Cole Pennington right now, but no one is talking about Randy Young. To me he's kind of a barometer to where we are talentwise. Randy Young last played football in 2023 (at least according to what I can find on him) for The Herd. He was fifth on the depth chart behind Ali, Payne, Turner, and Roberts. Saturday he ran on us pretty good. Averaging 6.9 yards on 11 carries for 76 yards. So a player that couldn't see the field here comes back three years later and has one of his best games.
