There was no ‘ROI’, because we didn’t *invest* ‘chit’ in this program. Our coaches salary’s are in line with other Power 4 programs (I mean in the BT alone you have Bielema, Rhule, Fisch, Fickell, etc. making $8 mil per year)….but money for the roster is not. This is a chit roster and has been going on 3-4 years. Look at each position room at MSU and then divide the B10 in 3 groups (1-6, 7-12 and 13-18) and tell me which of our position rooms are in the first or second BT group. We have one position room in there and it’s the RB room. And we had that for all of one quarter in BT games. And now that RB room joins *all* the other ones in the BT cellar. So we’re gonna get BT cellar results. And we *deserve* that. We are paying for the sins of Haller, Tucker, JLS and Batt. Extremely hard to overcome those missteps, IMO. And it’s painful. We got 2 things right so far: Bartholomae and Fitz. And right now…I’d rank Fitz in the top group of B10 coaches if every single thing and metric was the same for ALL coaches. But for the whole thing to come together and translate into wins, it’s gonna take money. I wonder in the last 3 portal cycles if we’ve poached a Power 4 starter. I think Nebraska has 6 former Power 4 starters alone this year. That’s huge, IMO. If you told me, that by 2029 we would not increase NIL FBall funding…I bet both Bart and Fitz would be gone. And we’d try it ALLL over again with a new AD and FBall coach. Not a newsflash…but we gotta get more funding. So we can debate this, debate that until the cows come home…but it’s all noise to me until hard decisions are made to find the money that’s going elsewhere and give it over to FBall…or fundraise and invest it at way.
