Big issue about #1. A big reason why Denegal sucks is he looks good enough in practice to convince coaches he's a D1 QB1.
It shows Lewis's loyalty to his guys and the fact he doesn't care about details.
This is when and where his QB coach should have identified the huge gaping weakness in his game; his inability to read coverages and then focused on fixing this before ever making him the QB1.
At this point, f his confidence. He's a grown man being paid to play football. Learn to read coverages or get someone else in who can. I'm tired of watching the ineptitude of Denegal. His performance is dragging everybody down.
Why did the D shut down UCLA in the first half only to perform like traffic cones vs Toledo? Because they actually believed they had a chance to win vs the Bruins. By the Toledo game they realized they have no chance at victory no matter what they do.
I fully agree the slogans are cringe-worthy cliches from a politician. Lewis is losing San Diego. Nobody trusts a word this use car salesman is pitching because he says the same meaningless buzzwords at a pace of people trying to mask something they don't want us to see. Like a politician
Also, point #6...how would you increase the complexity of an offense without a QB who can read defenses? I'm picturing more pick sixes for the opponents
Appreciate you reading it with such detail. Certainly, changes are easier to write than to do. IMO, the only path forward is helping the passing game to improve. I'm not sold on giving more snaps to a true freshman because he drove the ball during garbage time. I think Denegal is their best option. He shouldn't be, but here we are.
Complexity in the offense is about the types of formations, using motion, allowing more variety in the scheme, and having more plays to call. College football QBs do not go through too many progressions, so Denegal's reads wouldn't increase per se.
I'm a fan of your work.
It isn't just the drive. It's how he delivered the ball on his TD pass when he looked left before throwing to the WR on the right while throwing over a defender. Denegal can't do any of these things. He's had more than a season to demonstrate competency at the same skills the freshman showed on a single drive and has yet to deliver
