Coach contracts are up as much…. show more I’m not the expert but my take is things willlikely be good for the haves (20-30 programs). The have nots are operating at losses, cutting women’s sports, etc. I think the big thing is that, even the haves right now have had to incur 10s of millions in expense that didn’t exist a few years ago, and the downstream effect is more pressure on donors, increasing costs on fans, bets on new recurring revenue sources like our renovation, alienation of some core fans, etc. I say it’s a crossroads because the old operating model has been upended and who knows where it goes. Consolidation of the haves into mega conferences (maybe we are already there) and some degree of unburdening of the have nots from these costs is probably the natural course. The haves may actually end up thriving by stealing market share from the have nots in the end. We shall see. One thing we can all agree on is this is not the college football we grew up with and fell in with.
