Because people say these things constantly as if it’s some sort of qualification in its own right.
Muschamp absolutely wanted to be here. Badly. Had it been up to him he’d still be here. If he’d won enough to be successful here he’d not have left for some other job he still be happily here living at the lake house he still owns and winning football games.
So the “Beamer wanting to be here dream job whatever” nonsense is exactly that. It’s nonsense. It has no bearing on success or failure, to the extent it’s even true that he “loves it here more than other coaches” which is certainly not some sort of fact.
So why is it such a crucial part of the Beamer mythos? Because it’s all there is. There are no actually accomplishments or qualifications. So we leaned on this “it will work because it’s his deaam job”. Just such a childish narrative.
You don’t ever hear folks saying “I really wanted it to work with Muschamp because he loved it here” even though that’s almost certainly every bit as true as it was for Beamer.
